When you start a channel it's very difficult to consider the medium to long term trend vs short term daily swings. For example the last two days I've gained 25 and 18 subscribers respectively. Today it is likely to be less than 5. It's easy to get consumed by 2 or 3 days of numbers but there's nothing that can be determined from it - if you are being consistent then results will smooth out over time.

Something I need to be better at is comparing monthly statistics. It's not uncommon for me to refresh the YouTube studio app 4 or 5 times a day. I'm not sure what I think will change - if the views suddenly rise or drop it's out of my control. All that I can control with the channel is the upload schedule and the videos I make.

Furthermore, it can actually be a negative experience - if you get someone unsubbing or maybe views over the last few hours were low - then this negative feeling can affect your work and perhaps affect future views due to that too. Best way to do it is to check once a day at the same time and then analyse the statistics each month. What videos worked well? What had a good retention rate? etc

I need to take my own advice here.
